God's continued goodness and love.

5/4/20267 min read

Hello friends and family! It’s been such an amazing first season with YWAMEA so far. At the time of posting this, I’ll be halfway through the lecture phase of DTS. We have such a wonderful group of students this season, they are so on fire for the Lord and have a deep desire to know Him more and to serve the people of Asia! In total, we represent 13 different countries across 6 different continents! It’s such a blessing to have such a diverse group of people all in the same place for the Jesus.

Daily Life & Schedule

As time passes I’ve gotten more and more into the routine of things. I’m usually in charge of making sure the students are out of bed at 7 AM and down for breakfast. From there, we have our “quiet times” (independant bible reading / worship time) for about an hour. DTS Staff have prayer in the mornings a half hour before class, so we head in early ahead of the students. Class takes place in a church on the third floor of a nearby mall, which is only about a 10 minute walk from the guy's house.

At 9AM, we either have worship or prayer for an hour, and then about 2.5 Hours of lectures with a 15 minute break around 11:15AM. We then get lunch with the students in the mall, and then we have free afternoons until about 6PM. Then we split into groups and either go to bible study, small group, or we go out for evangelism.

Every group goes to each of these activities once a week while us staff rotate activities weekly. This means I’m periodically leading small group, bible study, and evangelism. It’s been a challenge for me, but I’m grateful to be able to grow in my weak areas and step out in faith. The evening activities end around 9PM, and then we head to bed around 10:30PM.

Growth & Community

It’s been so amazing to see the students engaged so deeply into God’s word and seeing how different they already are from a month and a half ago when I first met them. Over the course of the past weeks, we’ve learned about God’s character, His father heart (how He is our heavenly father and what that means for our relationship with Him), God’s big story and plan for our lives, and repentance and forgiveness.

The relationships within the DTS are really moving and growing as well, everyone is so good at including the whole group in their activities. Lots of movie and game nights organized by the students happen over the weekends. It’s such a blessing to have a great community of young people with hearts for Jesus! I couldn’t think of a better place for people to grow in God’s word than in a community of others with the same desire for Jesus.

God’s Continued Faithfulness

It’s been super cool to see the many ways God has answered so many prayers since coming here. God is continuing to prove to me his goodness every day, he’s been speaking to me a lot about how great he is.

A good friend messaged me a few weeks ago and reminded me about a conversation we’d had around October of 2024 that she had written about in her prayer journal. I’d joined her for a college ministry night in Lansing, and she’d asked me if there was any way she could pray for me. One of my biggest prayer requests at the time was a good group of Christian friends who loved the Lord. I had friends from school, and I loved them a lot, but I felt that I was missing a tight group of people who could uplift me and bring me closer to Jesus.

After I told her this, she wrote it down in her prayer journal, and I honestly completely forgot that I had asked her to pray for me. After she texted me a few weeks ago, it really hit me how much God has answered all my prayers from the past few years. I now am constantly surrounded by an amazing group of people my age who all love the Lord and uplift me in so many different ways. I’ve made so many good friends here and have such an overflow of joy from the people around me.

Not only that, I also feel secure in my future and what God has in store for me. After I graduated high school, I had no plan and no direction for my life. I took classes at a community college because that’s the only move I could think of to make for my future, but it didn’t feel right. All it took was for me to step into the plans God had for me and everything else came with it. He is so good.

Support from you all has been so amazing, and I promise your prayers are working in greater ways than my words can tell you. Thank you all, and thank you God. He is so so good.

Something God is Teaching Me This Month

A passage that has been speaking to me the past month is 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. It reads,

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”.

As God continues to pour out his perfect love on the students, the staff, and the people of Malaysia, I find myself asking how I’m reflecting and representing God to the people around me. As I grow closer with Him and know Him deeper, I cannot help but want to love others how He loves me.

How privileged are we as Christians to be given the great responsibility to love the unloved? How privileged are we that we are chosen to reach the unreached for His name? How privileged are we that we were chosen to represent such a perfect and holy God to the people around us and to entire world? I cannot think of a greater honor. But if we do not love first, we’ll never accurately represent Him and his character. So we need to love how he loves!

I’ve been praying and reminding myself of this passage daily, and I hope it can be an encouragement to you reading as well!

Support

I want to thank you all for your support in both prayer and finances, as well as all of the encouragement I’ve gotten through cards, texts, gifts, and your words. It’s so cool to see God’s provision and love in action!

Prayer Points
  • Prayers for the students that I am ministering to and leading. Prayers for growth in their relationship with Christ, a clear calling in their lives, and that more will enter the missions field for Jesus!

  • Prayers for growth in my own relationship with God, that I would be spirit-led in everything I do from staffing the DTS to leading teams across Asia!

  • Prayers that everything would go smoothly in my finances, my planning, and my day-to-day. That God would be with me and my team every step of the way.

  • Prayers for my rest, that I can sleep well and long at night, and that I can get a good balance between my work and rest hours.

  • Prayers for outreach planning, that my team would have many ministry opportunities and that we would have places to stay!

  • Prayers for the people of Asia, that the love of Jesus would reach every nation and people!
